A remarkable collection of coastal charts for the California collector. All feature good detail along the shore and contain sailing directions, soundings and navigational hazards. The lot includes:

1) Point Pinos to Bodega Bay California, A. D. Bache Superintendent of the Survey of the Coast of the United States, 1862 (28.3 x 38.5").
2) Preliminary Chart of Entrance to San Francisco Bay…, A. D. Bache Superintendent of the Survey of the Coast of the United States,1856 (38.8 x 20.3"). This great coastal chart of the San Francisco Bay covers the Marin Peninsula, San Francisco, Mission de Dolores, and the eastern coastline from just above Brookes Island to San Antonio Creek. An early city plan of San Francisco and an inset, "Sub-Sketch of Entrance to San Francisco Bay" add interest to the chart.
3) Preliminary Chart of San Pablo Bay,1856 (30 x 20.8").
4) San Pablo Bay, 1863 (38.8 x 23.7"). Very detailed large chart of the San Francisco Bay from Mission San Rafael to Benicia. Street grids of Vallejo and the Mare Island Navy yard, as well as Benicia and Martinez. Elevation views of the entrance to Karquines Strait and San Francisco Bay from near Penole Pt.
5) Upper Part of San Francisco Bay, 1862 (35.3 x 26.2").
6) Suisun Bay, 1872 (32.8 x 17.5"). This is a remarkably detailed chart drawn on a scale of approximately 1.5" per mile. Town plan of Benicia in grid format is at left and the map extends eastward to include Sherman Island. Locates Browns, Chipps, Van Sickle's, Roe and Grizzly islands, the town of Martinez, Montezuma Creek, Roaring River, and several sloughs.

Issued folding, now all are pressed and nicely backed with archival tissue. All with a little toning along folds, more on some.
