Great lot of the continent of Africa maps showing the progress of exploration and knowledge between the mid-18th Century and into the 1860's.

1) "Africa from the best Authorities," Thomas Kitchin, London, 7.7 x 5.7", ca. 1760.

2) "Map of the Old Continent," A. Bell, 7.5 x 8.8", ca. 1760, uncolored.

3) "Carte de L'Afrique," Charles Francois Delamarche, Paris, 17 x 11.4", 1845. Hint of centerfold toning.

4) "Map of Africa Designed to Accompany Smith's Geography for Schools," 10.4 x 8.3", 1839. A little scattered toning.

5) "Johnson's Africa," Johnson & Ward, 17 x 24", New York, 1863. Lovely ivory toned paper, trace of dried flower marks in blank ocean, tiny puncture hole closed on verso.
