This little map is derived from Gibson's map of the same title that appeared in the Gentleman's Magazine in December 1758. The cartography and unusual orientation are the same, but this map lacks the decorative title cartouche. The western part of North America is not depicted. A system of rivers and lakes stretch from Lake Superior towards the Pacific. There is a pencil note on the back of the map crediting Buffon, 1812; but we can find nothing to substantiate it. Andrew Bell (1726 - 1809) was active between 1750 and 1797.
