Nice example of this publication detailing the progress of the coast survey in the year 1867. Hardbound in brown cloth, 334 pp., 26 (of 27) maps and sketches. Contains numerous sections including a 142 pp. report on the Resources and Coast Features of Alaska Territory, a section on the resurvey of Galveston Bar and Harbor, Texas, etc. Includes the obituary of Alexander Dallas Bache and a long tribute to him. The folding map for Cape Cod Harbor is missing. Includes maps showing Boston Harbor; New York entrance; Greenwich Bay, RI; Port of Newbern, NC; Straits of Florida; Galveston entrance; Tillamook Bay, OR; Puget Sound; Alaska; Sitka Harbor; St. Paul, Kodiak Island; and much more. The four Alaska charts are among the earliest U.S. maps of Alaska following the purchase from Russia in 1867. A binding error has two copies of #13 bound in (Galveston entrance) - resulting in this copy actually having 27 maps in spite of the missing Cape Cod map.
