This uncommon double hemisphere map is beautifully decorated with clouds at top and allegorical representations of the continents at bottom. The graceful banner-style title cartouche attributes Sanson as the map's originator. California is shown as an island, the Great Lakes are beginning to take shape, Terre de Iesso stretches between Asia and North America, there is a bit of Nouvelle Zeelande that connects to Terre Magellanique, and Australia (Nouvelle Hollande) is only partly mapped.
