"A New Map of New Jarsey and Pensilvania", Morden, Robert

This is one of the first maps to name Philadelphia, here Philadelphia City. It is also one of the earliest maps of William Penn's colony of Pennsylvania, being issued only seven years after its founding. The map extends to include all of New Jersey, Pennsylvania up to Lake Erie, and northeastern Maryland. The colony of New Jersey is divided into East and West, with good detail of its barrier islands, towns, and rivers. Along Delaware Bay's western side is a strip of today's Delaware (the lower three counties) that is shown as part of Pennsylvania. Includes a very early depiction of Philadelphia, shown as a tiny skeleton street plan. The map has an impressive amount of early information on towns, villages and rivers. The map occupies most of a full sheet (6 x 7.7") with a little English text below that continues on the verso.
