Pair of interesting copper engravings from this unusual botanical book. Volkamer's Nurnbergische Hesperides was one of the earliest works on citrus fruits, with decorative plates showing the fruits with architectural backgrounds. The first illustrates some pests that attack the lemon tree with a view of a citrus farm in the background. Second is a very unusual view of a woman and dog playing on the floor of a room that opens into a citrus garden; above the view are drawings of blossoms.
