A very unusual nineteenth century edition of one of the most popular plans of Jerusalem of the seventeenth century. First produced in 1657, this map appeared in Dutch bibles as late as the 1780's and then reappeared in the mid 19th century. The fine bird's eye plan of the holy city depicts all the principal sites numbered and keyed to a table in a scroll at left. Biblical scenes are shown on the hillside in the foreground including the crucifixion. Printed on machine-made paper, apparently from the second state of the plate (with the added privilege under title), with Dutch text on verso.
