Unusual woodblock map of Asia with rudimentary cartography and several large islands representing the East Indies. The interior is filled with mountains, huge Black and Caspian Seas, and with a few places represented by large castles. The eastern coastline is truncated without a Korean Peninsula. A fierce sea monster is shown in the Arctic Ocean and a tiny boat sails the Indian Ocean. Rosaccio's maps were often printed and bound in an unusual manner for maps of the period; printed on two separate leaves. These leaves could easily be joined or they could be mounted and framed as is. Italian text on verso.
