"[Lot of 3] Daphne [and] Is. de Nisaro et de Pyscopia [and] [Untitled - Colossus of Rhodes]", Mallet, Alain Manesson

The first is a copper engraved bird's-eye view of Daphne, today's Harbiye and a suburb of Antioch (Antakya). According to mythology, Apollo attempted to make the wood nymph Daphne his lover here. The second is a fine depiction of Piscopia, Caloiero, Chirana, Nisary and a few other islands in the Aegean Sea. A volcano erupts on Nisari while two square rigged ships and a galley battle in the sea. The latter is a fine view of the huge statue at the entrance to Rhodes. The Colossus took 12 years to build, being completed in 282 BC. The city is in the background and two ships are sailing into the harbor. The first two have their title carried in a ribbon cartouche floating in the sky, the latter's ribbon cartouche is blank. Size is approximate for each.
