A pair of early and finely engraved copper-plate views. The first is a finely rendered view of the Revolutionary era fortification from which American Revolution War soldiers held the British at bay following the Battle of Brooklyn in 1776. This action allowed General Washington and his army time to escape safely into Westchester and New Jersey. Here, a British Union Jack flies over the fort. The second is after the painting by Naval artist and designer, Francis Swaine. It is a fine scene with Quebec in the background with a large square-rigger in the foreground. A nice pair of early engravings with Revolutionary era themes.
