This stunning double hemisphere map is surrounded by eight smaller projections depicting the world from various perspectives, and four still smaller circular diagrams. The map portrays the island of California on the Sanson model, Terra Esonis stretching between North America and Asia, partial coastlines for New Zealand and Australia together with the confused coastlines of Carpentaria and Quiri Regio in the Pacific. Two drape-style title cartouches, one in Latin with the other in Dutch. This map is closely modeled on Carel Allard's world map with a dark cross-hatched engraved background providing a dramatic contrast to the finely engraved maps.

References: cf Shirley #637.

Original color with green slightly oxidized. Professionally backed with light Japanese tissue to support a couple of minor cracks along centerfold. Narrow bottom margin, as issued.
