A terrific set of battle maps that spell out, in considerable detail, the military operations of Generals Scott, Worth and Taylor. These operations resulted in a remarkable defeat of the Mexican armies and Santa Anna, and opened the way for the assault on Mexico City in mid-September. This fine collection includes the following maps: 1) "Map of the Valley of Mexico with a Plan of the Defences of the Capital and the Line of Operations of the United States Army" (19.5 x 26") with original hand coloring. 2) "Battles of Mexico. Line of Operations of the U. S. Army under the Command of Major General Winfield Scott on the 19th and 20th of August 1847" (28.7 x 24"). 3) "Battles of Mexico. Line of Operations of the U. S. Army under the Command of Major General Winfield Scott, On the 8th, 12th and 13th of September, 1847" (21.5 x 28"). 4) "Map of Genl Worth's Operations on the 20th of Augt. 1847" (31 x 18.5"). 5) "Plan of the Battle of Buena Vista. Fought February 22nd and 23rd 1847" ( 21.2 x 16.5"). 6) "La Paz (Lower California) and Its Environs, showing the positions occupied by the U.S. Troops and the Mexicans…" (20.5 x 16.5"). 7) "Survey of the Mexican Lines of Defence at Cerro Gordo…" (19 x 13"). 8) "Plan of Santa-Cruz de Rosales…" (13 x 12.2"). 9) another example of Plan of Santa-Cruz de Rosales. 10) "Battle of El Molino Del Rey" (19.6 x 13"). 11) "Plan Accompanying Gen.
