"[Lot of 3] Cours de la Riviere de Senegal… [and] Carte de l'Entree de la Riviere de Sanaga ou Senegal [and] Plan du Fort St. Joseph", Bellin/Van Schley
These three small maps show the French trading posts along the Senegal River. This region was an important center for African trade, especially the slave-trade, and was the site of various battles between the European powers. The French broke the Portuguese monopoly in the late 16th century and established a series of trading posts along the river. The first two are adorned with title cartouches and compass roses. The last map includes 3 maps showing Fort. St. Joseph.
