This map is derived from the Nicolas Visscher map of 1658, with a similar combination of the Blaeu type Great Lakes region and a Briggs type island of California. A depiction of the Fries voyage appears in the water north of Japan, and Tasman's discoveries are shown in New Zealand. The title is enclosed in a drape style title cartouche with branches above. Engraved by H. Mosting.
