Finely engraved map featuring an Independent Texas. Texas is well mapped and names Austin, S. Felipe de Austin, S. Antonio de Bexar, Houston, Cherokee Villages, and more. Simon Bourne, a Briton and friend of Stephen Austin, made a copy of Austin's' manuscript map of Texas. Upon returning to England he shared the information with Sidney Hall, who produced this map, first published in 1828. This updated version has more information within Texas. It has excellent detail throughout Mexico and Central America and shows Mexico at it's greatest extent. The southwest is labeled Upper or New California and the Baja here is Old California. Boldly engraved keyboard style border. Published by Longman, Orme & Co. A most desirable and increasingly scarce map.
