A scarce and very detailed map that shows most of the Southeast with the Civil War battlefields highlighted. Railway routes are identified with red overprinting. Includes all or a portion of Kentucky, Tennessee, Georgia, eastern Missouri, Mississippi and Alabama. Map is handsomely printed with an earthy green background color. Map folds into paper pamphlet titled "Southern Battlefields - A List of Battlefields on or near the lines of the Nashville, Chattanooga & St. Louis Railway and Western & Atlantic Railroad..." Pamphlet is 47 pages with descriptions of the route and battles. It contains numerous engravings, photographs and 8 battlefield plans. Inside back cover has another map showing the routes of the Nashville, Chattanooga & St. Louis Railway. Finely engraved and colored pictorial cover features an active battle scene.
