Double-page wood engraving, showing the Capitol in its final stages of completion and just after a Confederate attack damaged the building. The scaffolding that will eventually be replaced by the capitol dome is depicted proudly flying the Stars and Stripes and the right wing of the building is ablaze and smoking. Excellent birds-eye view of the city and river behind the Capitol. Drawn and engraved by C.H. Andrews.
