A fine wood engraving from a photo by the great William Henry Jackson. It was done as part of a series illustrating the towns of the West. The engraving is photo-realistic in its detail of the buildings and homes, with mountains in the background and dozens of miners in the foreground. A stunning and accurate image that shows the town to be large and booming, with the smelters smoking away. During this period William Henry Jackson was working in Colorado. He produced a large body of work around the Denver & Rio Grande Railroad.
