Attractive early 19th century state map with fourteen counties and excellent, up-to-date information. Three early railroads are shown connecting Jersey City with Philadelphia, Patterson and Jersey City, and Camden and Amboy. In addition many roads and canals are shown throughout. In Burlington County several furnaces and forges are located. During the 1830's Burr served as topographer of the United States Post Office, and late in the decade he was appointed as the Geographer for the House of Representatives. This map of New Jersey was issued in the 1836 edition published by Thomas Illman and maps from this atlas are scarce.
