A very fine, large printed vellum leaf. The text is printed in black and red and one illuminated initial is beautifully hand-painted in red, blue, green and gold. The missal is a service book containing the texts necessary for the performance of the Catholic mass (including chants, prayers, and readings), together with ceremonial directions. The parts of the Bible that are to be read during mass are noted in the margins.
