Great copper engraving depicting the Battle of Malaga fought during the War of the Spanish Succession. The French fleet of 52 ships, under Admiral Comte De Toulouse, came to support the Spanish counter attack but were intercepted by Admiral Sir George Rooke with 58 English and Dutch ships. The naval battle took place August 24th with the French finally withdrawing leaving the British to safeguard the recently captured Gibraltar. The scene is decorated with coats of arms and an elaborate inset map of the Strait of Gibraltar.
