Handsome large-scale map showing the wind and magnetic variations on Mercator's projection. The chart stretches from California to Japan and focuses on the French spheres of influence in the Atlantic and Indian Oceans. The winds are depicted with tiny windheads scattered throughout the map. The continents are shown without political information. Large decorative title cartouche, featuring the French crown surmounting the globe, fills the entire Asian landmass and another cartouche with an explanation for the map fills the South Pacific. Seal of the Depot de Marine and prix Cinquante Sols, indicating a later issue.
