Joshua Fisher made the first chart of Delaware Bay in 1756 and then produced an improved and expanded edition in 1776. The Fisher map was the most important map of the bay and river in the eighteenth century. This chart was derived from the 1776 edition. It shows the bay to beyond Philadelphia and is filled with place names and locates many hazards to navigation along the waterway. Compass rose with north to the right, and rhumb lines. A very nice example of this chart.
