Moritz Rugendas (1802-1858) traveled extensively throughout Brazil on two extended expeditions. A trained painter, these lithographed examples of his art are considered important documentation in the study of Brazilian life at the beginning of the nineteenth century. This remarkable work was published in German and French. A group of Brazilian natives in the forest are burying a member of the tribe. Rare.
