Very fine matched set of miniature maps. These maps are all reductions of Ortelius' maps from the Theatrum engraved and published by Phillipe Galle. The world map is Galle’s second map, first appearing in 1588, without the clouds surrounding the oval projection. The map of America is based on Ortelius' 1570 folio map with the bulges in the western coastlines of both North and South America. Latin text on verso.

Minor surface soil and stains in margins, most noticeable on frontispiece. Tissue on verso of frontispiece strengthening the platemark
