A very decorative steel engraved map with original full color in the map and later coloring of the surrounding scenes. Texas is still shown as independent, California belongs to Mexico, the United States takes in British Columbia, and Alaska is labeled Amerique Russe. The surrounding illustrations show flora, fauna and people of North and Central America. Chart lists populations including Texas shown with 200,000 people. A nice example of one of the last decorative maps of the 19th century.
