This leaf is from a very rare book containing the office of the Catholic Mass. It is printed on fine hand-laid paper in red and black ink. One side includes a woodblock illustration of a king praying and the face of God appearing in the clouds above. An exceedingly early example of fine printing and Gothic woodblock illustration.

A beautiful leaf printed in red and black ink with a woodblock historiated capital on one side. This is from Gregory XIII's treatise explaining the prescribed manner of performing the official ceremonies of the Holy See in matters both spiritual and temporal. It is a fine example of early printing by the house of M. Giunta, considered the leading Italian printer of the 16th century.

Splendid double sheet Koran leaf by this renowned calligrapher. A superb example of 19th century Islamic text. Each side is written in black ink and illuminated with burnished goldleaf with red and green ink. Both sides include a marginal decoration. Tiny bit of smudged ink, else very fine.
