The northwest coast of North America is greatly exaggerated with a peninsular California. Western Australia, Van Diemen's Land and a bit of New Zealand are shown, as well as the islands of the South Pacific. The map is surrounded by fine engravings of animals and four female allegorical representations of the continents taken from Visscher's earlier Bible map but presented in a more polished, artistic manner. At top and bottom are two diagrams depicting the Ptolemaic and Copernican theories of the solar system.
