CALIFORNIA IS SHOWN AS AN ISLAND, and parts of New Zealand, Australia and Tasmania are shown. Part of 'Compagnes Land' is shown in the Western Hemisphere. The map is embellished with scenes along the bottom including figures representing the continents. Tucked between the hemispheres at top is an interesting and irregular sphere containing the ancient world enveloped in a cloud. Jan Goeree worked with Pieter van der Aa in the early part of the 18th century, and this map is very similar to the geography found on his maps.
