"References for the Plan of the City and Suburbs of Carthagena", Speer, Joseph Smith (Capt)

This rare bird's-eye plan of the city of Cartagena was published during the "Silver Age" of the city, in which there was great expansion of the city, its population and its economy. A numbered key identifies over 30 important locations, including bastions, churches, redoubts, hospitals, and even a butchery. Engraved by John Gibson and published in Speer's The West-India Pilot, sold by Samuel Hooper.

We were not able to find any examples of this map being listed for sale over the last 30 years.

Condition: A

A clean and bright example on paper with an "E V H" watermark, wide margins, and very light soiling along the edges of the sheet. There are archivally repaired centerfold separations confined to the blank margins.
