Handsome map of Asia with the imprint of engraver Jacob Keyser and date at lower right. The most distinguishing feature is the huge Kamchatka Peninsula with some features derived from Witsen's account of the 'frozen cape.' Just to the east is the fabled Compagnie Land with an undefined coastline stretching east. Japan is depicted on the Kaempfer/Scheuchzer type. Australia's northern coastline is shown as well as the successive Dutch discoveries in Carpentarie. The Arabian Peninsula and much of the eastern coast of Africa is included, as well as the islands in the Indian Ocean.
