Title page from the Part VII of the Grand Voyages, which detailed the travels of Ulrich Schmidel in Brazil and Paraguay from 1534-1554. The title is enclosed in an architectural style framework. Standing on the columns flanking the title are a man and woman, each devouring human flesh, and at bottom is a scene of a fire with roasting limbs arrayed upon it and more feasting cannibals.

The plate was printed a little unevenly, resulting in the loss of a portion of the top neatline. A repair of the right margin has a small segment of neatline reinstated in pencil facsimile. There are a few small wormholes neatly repaired on verso.
