A. Carte du Canal de Mosambique, Contenant l'Isle de Madagascar avec les Cotes d'Afrique, Depuis le Cap de Bonne Esperance, Jusqu'a Melinde, by Rigobert Bonne, circa 1760 (12.6 x 8.4"). This chart delineates the southern and southeastern portions of Africa, extending along the east coast nearly to the Equator. A large untitled inset details the region from S. Helens Baay to the Cape of Good Hope in the region of today's Cape Town. There is good detail on Madagascar, which is shown in full, with numerous small islands to the north and east. Trade winds are shown east of Madagascar. Engraved by Andre. Ref: Norwich #173. Condition: A nice impression with attractive color and very light offsetting. (B+)

B. Cape Colony, by John Tallis, circa 1850 (12.8 x 9.9"). This detailed map is surrounded in a decorative border including vignettes of the Entrance to the Knysna, Grahams Town, Cape Town, three natives in traditional dress, and a lion. The map is geographically correct for the period with numerous place names. Ref: Norwich #237. Condition: Original outline color with light toning and a few small stains, primarily confined to the bottom blank margin. (B)
