This uncommon map shows part of Holland as it was in ancient times. It focuses on the region of West-Friesland with part of the enclosed Zuther Zee and the marshy Heyden Zee. The title cartouche features Neptune riding his chariot pulled by aquatic horses, mermaids, mermen and putti. Mensone Alting was the burgomeister of Groningen and the author of Descriptio Frisiae, the first history of the Netherlands.

A couple of faint spots of foxing, else very good.
