This is an interesting Revolutionary War-period map with good detail throughout, showing roads, villages and ports. Scale of British miles and simple compass rose accent the page. This is the last of a series of four maps that were issued in the Gentleman's Magazine during 1776 to illustrate the growing unrest in the colonies. It labels Fairfield, New Haven and New London counties in Connecticut. There is good detail of the early settlements, roads and a copper mine near Simsbury, CT.
