This terrific example of an unusual desk globe is constructed from twelve coated paper gores, and has a full, steel meridian with calibrations resting in a wooden cradle on a large rectangular wooden base that has a built-in slot for storing a small atlas or journal. This wonderful globe shows Chosen (Korea), French Indo-China, and Manchuria (Manchoukou), and includes a time dial at the North Pole. There is a legend that shows the keys for city populations, existing and proposed air travel routes, steamship lanes, railways, roads, canals and swamps. The oceans are finished in turquoise blue, and have the currents shown in white. An ornate, oval cartouche is located in the North Pacific, above Hawaii.
