This wonderful, color lithographed pocket map portrays the transportation system built by H. B. Plant. This example shows counties outlined in green, and includes the cities, townships, rivers, lakes and swamps. An inset includes Southern Florida, Key West, Cuba and the Bahamas. The Plant System is shown in red, with connecting railroads shown in black. H.B. Plant acquired the Florida Southern Railway in 1892 and renamed it the Florida Southern Railroad, as shown on this map. He also incorporated the Orange Belt Railway into his system in 1893 (but this line is shown here as an independent line). Inside the front cover is a list of the names and positions of the Plant System officials. The map folds into tiny, printed pictorial wrappers (2.6 x 5.4") with the stamp of the passenger agent, Chas. W. Gray (Boston). A fantastic example of an uncommon railway pocket map.
