This very attractive 17th century map depicts the Dombes region in southeastern France. The ancient city of Lyon is found in the lower right corner - for centuries an important textile center. The area between Lyon and Macon, west of the river, is an important Beaujolais region. Most cities, towns, forests and waterways are identified. The beautiful and elaborate title and scale cartouches and elaborate coat-of-arms further enhance the map. The distance cartouche features putti, a globe, and armillary sphere. German text on verso.

Very nice impression on thick paper with wide margins. Scattered toning or foxing, else very good.
