Copper engraved plan and view of Nieuwpoort depicting its fortifications, protective moats, and orderly layout of the city. Sailing ships line the docks on the river Haven. At top is a panoramic view of the city skyline showing churches and towers. The road to Brussels and Ostend is shown at lower left. The Treaty of Utrecht, signed in 1713, ended the war between Great Britain and France known as the War of the Spanish Succession. The treaty was flawed and resulted in little more than a temporary truce because its articles left the door open to further disputes, ultimately resulting in the Seven Years' War. Engraved by Isaac Basire.

Nice, dark impression. Folding and trimmed to top neatline, as issued. A little occasional offsetting and toned along left, else very good.
