359. Pacific Ocean (Representation du Cours ordinaire des Vents de Traverse qui regnet sur les Cotes dam la grande Mer du Sud), Bellin, Histoire Generale des Voyages, Paris, [1747-80]. 11.7 x 6". (BW) Very unusual map of the Pacific with China, the East Indies and partial coastlines for New Guinea and Australia. In the west a good bit of North America is shown with CALIFORNIA AS AN ISLAND, and the western coast of South America (filled with tall mountains). Only the lower part of California is shown with the eastern coastline continuing north beyond the 37 deg. N. Tropical tradewinds are depicted in the Pacific and the Gulf of Mexico. 360. Pacific Ocean (Oceanie), Victor Levasseur, Atlas National Illustre, Paris, [1849]. 17 x 11". (OC) Finely engraved with much detail of the Pacific and her islands. Extends from Sumatra to the west coast of North America and north to about the 50th parallel. Hand colored to show colonial possessions throughout the islands. Surrounded by beautifully rendered scenes in b&w. Strong, crisp impression. Full margins. (A) $225

361. Pacific Ocean, (Oceanica), Cram, Illustrated Family Atlas, [1883]. 11.5 x 9". (PC) Nice detail and good impression. Centered roughly on Fiji extends to include the Sandwich Islands, Australia, New Zealand, the Philippines, all of Borneo and much of Japan. (A) $15

362. Pacific Ocean (Naval Chart of the Pacific and Wastern Atlantic), U.S. Navy Dept., ca. 1900. 25 x 22". (PC) Colorful chart which concentrates on the Pacific although it does show both North and South America and their Atlantic coastlines. Also includes the eastern coasts of Asia and most of Australia. Coloring indicates those island groups claimed by England, France and Germany. Folded as issued. (A+) $45

363. Pacific Ocean (Carte Particuliere de la Polynesie, (parties orientale et Septenrionale) de L’ Oceanie), A. H. Brue, Paris, 1826. 20 x 14.25". (OC) Two maps on one folio sheet of fine paper. One depicting the Pacific island north of the Equator and the other those to the south. Includes much of the Philippines, Fiji, Tahiti, Mariannas and Hawaii, all with great detail.
